About Saxon Motorsport and our race team
Saxon Motorsport moved into karting in 1998. We met the need for an expert and experienced kart and karts spares supplier in the UK.
We stock a comprehensive range of karts and kart spares. You can visit us at our warehouse in Hereford. Or, if that’s not convenient, you can buy karts and kart spares online.
Three generations of racing success
We’ve always had a race team, reflecting our passion for the sport. Nick Barrow, our managing director, has been in motor racing since he was 13. You could say racing is in his blood. His father, Tom Barrow, raced cars and karts and won numerous club meetings. Nick was an Expert moto-cross rider in the 80’s. In 1990 he won the British Tarmac Rally Championship and took class wins at international level in rallies including Ypres, Scottish and Ulster.
In endurance saloon car racing he has had numerous class wins at the famous Nürburgring and in 2005 competed in the BritSports Series in a Radical and in October 2005 he won the Belcar Masters at Zolder in Belgium.
Nick’s son and daughter race for Saxon Motorsport. They help carry on the family’s winning reputation. His son, Thomas, has had dozens of class wins and won the Saxon Biland Championship in 2005 and came second in Super 1 in 2003. His daughter, Sarah, also has had numerous class wins. She finished third in the Super 1 round at Larkhall in 2007. Thomas and Sarah took seventh and eighth in the world finals in Portugal in 2005.
The team were TKM festival winners in 2003 and 2004. Tom Barrow was the 2006 ‘O’ Plate winner. In 2007, Tom Barrow won the Saxon Super Series and Biland ‘O’ Plate and took first in the Biland Super Series 2008.
In 2009, Thomas started racing in Formula Ford 1600. In his first season he finished a close second in the Castle Combe Carnival and gained an overall win at Thruxton.
