In 2009 Thomas Barrow started racing in Formula Ford 1600, choosing the Castle Combe Club Championship because of its high entry numbers and also the extremely high standard of its drivers and competion.

After a lot of investigation, the Mygale 2000 chassis was chosen and Saxon Motorsport decided to develop its own Kent Crossflow engines.

Development of the car, engine and driver was rapid throughout the year, despite some engine component failures from the most reputable resources. In the Formula Ford Carnival race at the end of the year, Tom finished a very close second place after qualifying fourth and then, the following weekend, secured an overall win at Thruxton.

The team have continued the engine development throughout the winter period and have gained a further two horsepower on last year’s winning engine and look forward to the start of the 2010 season with high optimism.
